Japan, an exhibition with Maki Hirakawa and Midori Sakurai.
Cyrille Varet collaborated with Japanese designer Maki Hirakawa on objects combining Japanese traditional weaving and metal structures:
– A Kaku screen, gathering handcrafted weaving squares, Kudamonos (citrus fruits in Japanese),
– Spherical lamps in handcrafted weaving, in acid colors.
On this occasion, Cyrille Varet presented a collection of seats incorporating traditional patterns of flowers used as emblems in Japanese families, cutting them in the iron back of his chair “Totem”. Midori Sakuraï exhibited photographs of installations and performances integrating light and movement. Part of the exhibition even invested the workshop in the basement during the evening launch.
