Le chalet des Îles reopened in 2012 in the “bois de Vincennes” Parisian largest park. New owners of the place Jean-Baptiste Aubertin & Jean-Michel Calvert, asked Cyrille Varet to design lightings for this place, associating his humanitarian initiative Ithemba, and the skills of Southern African women involved in the project. 35 chandeliers and wall lights have been designed for this place.
TERRASSE, BAR ET RESTAURANT
Le Chalet des Iles offers a wide terrace in the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, a warm and large dining room and several lounges hosting seminars and private receptions. Each of these pieces has been decorated with lightings designed by Cyrille Varet.
CULTURAL BRIDGE
The designer imagined for this venue an original lighting decoration combining his designer skills to the humanitarian approach he initiated in 2002. 35 light fixtures, wall lights and chandeliers were made combining his metal work to bead work developed by Ithemba in South Africa. Thousands of bands of glass beads and crystals have been made in Johannesburg to decorate steel structures crafted in France.
IMVULA COLLECTION
These fixtures have launched a collection called “Imvula”.
“Imvula” means “Rain” in Zulu. This rain of colorful and bright droplets is declined in a collection of objects, which also includes a folding screen, and other types of lighting.
